 Frequently Asked Questions

  • 1. Fill out our new client inquiry form (Click Here).

    2. Our consultation specialist will reach out to you and to determine how our team fits in with your goals, desired outcomes, desires for a therapist, ideal frequency of sessions and match you up with the best therapist suited for your initial needs.

    3. You will receive an email with our online initial intake form.

    4. Once completed, we will reach out to you and schedule your first session!

    5. During your first session, your therapist will determine how best to support your growth using their unique skillsets. Your therapist will then outline a treatment plan for you based on your specific symptom profile and desired goals.

  • Somatic psychotherapy uses a body centered approach to treat stress and trauma. Emotions typically have a body based presentation (think about how your heart rate elevates during moments of anxiety).

Somatic therapy emphasizes how the body changes with different emotions. In the case of trauma and post traumatic stress, the sensations in our body may mimic feelings during the initial trauma moment.

Somatic psychotherapy in the way we use it (Brainspotting and EMDR) helps quiet down the emotional "charge" of certain memories and triggers. This therapy helps reduce arousal around the specific memory so you can reconsolidate it into your memory bank without feeling anxious, panic, or intense fear. It helps you live your life forward instead of replaying the past. Once these trauma networks become desensitized and integrated, space opens up for passion, purpose, creativity, and inspiration!

  • Psychotherapy brings awareness to subconscious programming, thoughts, feelings, and narratives. If we are stuck in a pattern that no longer serves us, understanding the pattern is the first step to change it.

Sometimes we feel shame to repeat a pattern to cause discomfort. Luckily, the nervous system contains innate wisdom and is “wired” towards healing.

Your body wants to heal you, and knows how (think about how a papercut heals without you needing to teach your body how). You may just be operating out of old habitual responses.

In our work together, we explore and create the conditions to allow you to choose a different way. We become curious about shame and convert it to precious pearls of wisdom.

We create movement using somatic therapy and ask your body what it needs to process, acknowledge, release, or embody to create clarity!

  • If it is a reschedule or a quick conversation under 10 minutes, your therapist will make reasonable and best efforts to call you back in between sessions. Therapist emails are monitored by clinical and administrative staff. Therapists attempt to answer email inquiries within 48 business hours of receipt.

While we make reasonable efforts to answer all of our messages left for our clinical team, phone calls, voice messages, email communications, and text messages are not considered psychotherapy. Communications are answered in the order in which they are received. Leaving multiple messages, emails, texts, etc will not elicit a faster reply.

The best way to inform your therapist of updates is during our paid sessions.

If it is a matter that exceeds a 15 minute conversation or an email update, please schedule a phone consultation using our online booking system.

Please note if you email your therapist and request an email response back, you will be billed for this time.

Specialty Practice - What Does That Mean?

We are highly specialized in the services we offer. We hold advanced certifications, many years of experience, and have had specialty trainings in our field (brain injury, PTSD, performance psycholanxiety, somatic therapy, mTBI, forensic psychology).

We have been certified as subject matter experts and credentialed as a specialty clinic in the diagnosis, assessment, and treatment of anxiety, trauma, and PTSD and PTSD following mTBI by the federal
Department of Labor Office of Worker's Compensation and the state of Colorado Department of Labor and Employment. We do not offer services for everyone and every clinical condition as some psychotherapy clinics do.

Certain conditions remain outside of our clinical scope of practice and also require advanced trainings. For the majority of services, we require physician referral to establish medical necessity for services, however there are some exceptions to this.

We are committed to providing clinically appropriate care, and that means informing you if your needs exceed our scope of practice.

  • Treatment resistant depression

  • Suicidality (this may require a psychiatric evaluation at the Emergency Room, more intensive outpatient (IOP), or partial hospitalization programs (PHP))

  • Crisis services (for those actively in crisis, Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) or partial hospitalization programs (PHP) may be required)
